Bellwork- Analyze, Interpret, and Evaluate by 5/6

  1. Analyze: In this artwork the artist has used metal in a very interesting way to make something that very different and unique art. I see dont see any colors being used. I can see artist used iron sticks in the middle which i think is the emphasis point.
Interpret: I can't really say what this artwork is about but it reminds me off the DNA structure b/c of twisted the iron stick in the middle. Therefore I think the artist is a man. Evaluate: I really like this artwork: it is very unique and something that I have never seen before. The main thing I like is the iron stick in the middle which connect the two sides.

  2. Analyze.
This artist used enormous sheets of metal to create a horse-like sculpture. This piece is huge, almost five or six stories tall. The artist used shape in a creative way, forming two dimensional pieces of metal, and then rotated them to form a three dimensional piece. The form aspect of this piece comes from the use of shape also. There are lines formed from the cables of metal connecting several of the sheets of metal together. I see emphasis on the eyes and the nose of this sculpture.

    Interpret.
I think this piece is celebrating a cultural or local event, something like an anniversary of a historical event, or to commemorate something that just happened recently. Usually statues and sculptures of this size and magnitude are commissioned or funded by large organizations, which could also mean that this statue was just made to celebrate something like a new building being opened/finished.

    Evaluate.
I don't like this artwork. I don't like the two dimensional shapes used to make a three dimensional piece. I think adding a third dimension to the sheets of metal via warping would add a lot of energy to this piece, since the use of colour is little to none.

  3. Analyze: The artist used mostly one color. The texture looks really smooth. The artisit used lines, both curvy and straight. They made use of negative space. The piece also seems to be off balanced

Interpret: I think that this is by an artist in America. I think maybe the artist was trying to do their own spin on the visual illusion of the Glass and 2 men.

Evaluate: I really like this artwork mostly because of the size and the use of wire. I also really like the shape of each peice of metal.

  5. Analyze: This artwork is a sculpture. It uses the materials of metal. The color is a dark copper. The shape is either a horse or armadilla. The size is large due to the building in the back. The porportion and shapes used makes it look unbalanced.
Evaluate: I do not believe that it was a made for a purpose, just for fun becasue of the randomness of it. I also believe it was a male artist because of the shapes used. I aslo believe it was made in the last ten years becasue it seems like it could be from an artist today.
Interpret: I like the shape of the artwork. I live the unbalancedness of it too because it makes it more creative. I also like that i dont know what it is.

  6. Analyze: This artwork has a variety of lines curvy and straight. The texture is smooth. The is negative and positive space. There are many organic shapes, and shapes like eyes and i think a nose. The eye is the point of emphasis, my eye went directly to it.

Interpret: I think its not really about anything. I think the artist just created the art for pleasure.

Evaluate: I like the use of negative space. I like the off balance feel to it. It makes me wonder what it's about and it is very eye catching.
