Weekly Art Criticism

By Friday 4.1: Analyze, Interpret, and Evaluate this sculpture. Your post should be a well-developed paragraph.

6 comments:

  1. Analyze: In this artwork the artist has used colors in a very interesting way to make the flower like object pop out. I see blue and different shades of blue, and the blue in the middle catches my eye. I can see artist used squares to create something similar to a flower. I am not able to tell the details about what is used inside the squares but of the size of the picture.
Interpret: It is hard for me to guess about the artist and his/her origin: this is the first time I am seeing an artwork like this althought it seem like an installation to me.
Evaluate: I really like this artwork: it is eye catchy, it looks like installation, and I also like who the artist has used the color blue.

  2. Analyze:
The colors are used in a way so they really work together. The contrast of the blue against the dark brown really makes it pop. The four squares coming out of the middle creates balance. It creates an x shape. I, like Shil, can't see the details because of the size of the picture, but it looks like it's lit up, which brings a whole other element into the sculpture. The emphasis is really on the yellow in the middle.
    Interpret:
Since I cannot see what's inside the squares, I really can't say what this is about. I think the use of light is interesting and I think maybe the light itself represents something. I also think the yellow orbish thing represents maybe the sun or something because it lights up and is the center of the piece.
    Evaluate:
I really like this because I like the way light is used. I also have always like the contrast of a bright blue and a dark chocolate brown, so I got excited the second I saw that. I like how electricity is used so it mixes art with technology. I just think this piece is really great. (From what I can see of it!)

  3. Analyze: it looks like the artist ised many different colors in this. The postion of the line at the bottom makes it a little off balanced. I see some geometric shapes (squares and circles). I feel that there is movement in this peice, like the circle in the middle should spin.

Interpret: I think this artist may be an emvironmentalists. I think this is suppose to be a flower and the earth is in the center.

Evaluate: I dont like this artwork. I can't really see it but I don't think I like the colors that artost chose and I don't think I like the use of the squares.

  4. analyze: the artist used different color to help the squares pop out. theres is high contrast to help the middle part pop out. I think it is a flower like shape. the point of emphasis goes to the middle of the art. there is balance.

Interpret: i think its about energy. The center is like really bright. The center gives everything color and detailed.

Evaluate: I dont like it because i cant really see the details. I dont like the colors used. And i dont really know what its about..

  5. Analyze: In this artwork the main shape is a square. The colors all revolve around a neon blue, they remind me of lights. The area of emphasis would be the "world" looking shape in the middle. This artwork is balanced due to the four squares surrounding the area of emphasis. There is movement due to the blue lights. These four objects remind me of a television.

Interpret: I believe this artwork could be about the world being surrounded technology. I believe this because of the area of emphasis looks like the world. Also the area of emphasis is surrounded by television like objects.

Evaluate: I like this artwork. I like the neon colors and the movement of the artwork even though you really cant see it well. I also like the shape of the artwork. And i like that i think i picked this artist out<3

  6. IM SORRY THIS IS LATEEEEEEEEEEEE! i was out of town the first part of break, and didnt have internet and then my phone is a goober it was slow and would let me post anything!

This art work is simply squares and circles. It has alot of color inphasis. He used alot of color but it all goes togeather very nice. Its balanced well. The design is neat. But its kind of hard to tell because i cant see inside of the squares.
I cant really deside if i like this art work or not. Its kind of hard to tell. I think i might like it more if i saw what was inside. I dont really feel emotion toward it though.
