Bellworrrrrkkkkk

Analyze: This sculpture uses metal in an interesting way, by cutting out shapes. The pieces of metal itself are 2 dimensional, but it makes a 3 dimensional shape which I think is very unique. If you look at the building in the background, you can tell the sculpture is huge. It doesn't use much color but it requires a lot of balance. I don't see much unity in this sculpture.

Interpret: I agree with Jesse, this looks like a horse to me. I can see it in the face and the middle piece looks like legs, almost. It looks like a Cyclops and the bars behind the "head" connect it in an interesting way. I'm not sure what the artist is trying to get across because the piece is so abstract

Evaluate: I don't like this. I'm not always into abstract work, especially this abstract. I also am not fond of the lack of color. I think that the piece was well done physics wise, when you think about the balance and welding, and I appreciate that, I just cannot bring myself to reallllly appreciate the art itself. When I looked it, I was immediately turned off by it. It almost looks unfinished to me.

EVY!!! analyzee: the color is skin toney, there are browns, tans yelloww and white, different values and shades. The ballerinas are very proportional. There is emphasis on the ballerina's. You can visualize the movement, you can see that they are stretching. Evaluate: I like this artwork because its interesting and detailed with the movement. I like the sort of off centered-ness, your eye follows the ballerinas. i like the different values and shade to make it 3-d!!!! Interpret: i think its about a dance studio. The painter is trying to capture the movment of a ballerina. i think its a male artist!

Rylee's Independent Project

For my independent project I am creating an altered book. The theme of my book is imagination. This book will contain five chapters: "What is imagination", "Examples of imagination", "Where does imagination come from", "Quotes of imagination", and "Your imagination". I will include alot of colors and textured paper. I have already started my altered book and have included my favorite page in this post. If you can think of any examples of imagination it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Abbie's independent project proposal

For my project, I'm taking from zen ideas and Chinese to create a wall sculpture. I will have four tiles (if it doesn't take me long, I'll make more) and put Chinese birds and words on them. I would also like to do some research on Chinese proverbs and maybe incorporate those, too. The tiles will have birds and branches and be soft and very "zen". I want it to be relaxing and bring a calm peace to the room that it's in. Also, I will take a piece of wood and stain it whichever color I want. I will then mount the tiles onto the wood. Somewhere in there, I want it to say "Inhale love, exhale hate" in Chinese because that saying means a lot to me, and I want to be able to remind myself to stay positive. (If I choose to hang it somewhere in my home.) I don't know how to better explain it, so I guess I will do a better job in person! The following pictures are some of the kids of birds I would like to put on it, as well as the Chinese symbol for "bird":

The Chinese symbol for "bird"

PS: I put comments on each of your posts :) I hope you enjoyed them!

Jesse's Independent projecttttttt

I want to get a small (5-6inches) square shadow box, break the glass so that there is an empty space between certain shards of the glass. I wanna make a diorama inside of the shadow box that symbolizes a person's thoughts and emotions, and I want some of them to come out of the empty space in the broken glass, symbolizing a person's emotions and thoughts coming out of their mind and becoming real.

Laurens Project! YAY!

So for my project i'm going to do a silverware chandiler.  Its going to be three or four layers.  The picture is an idea of what it is going to be but I am going to change it and make it my own.  It might be alittle bit smaller also. It depends on how much silverware I can find. I am going to also add the light in it. It should look cool, i hope!

Project Proposal - Plaster Carving

I think I wanna do a plaster carving of a giraffe eating from a tree, and this is picture is almost exactly what I see in my head. Since this is my art last project I want it to be good and I kinda want it to be big. So I think It should be about 2 feet high, 1 foot in width and 1.5 feet in length.
I also think it should be blue! =)

Not sure who my audience would be. But maybe if my project is good enough I can get it into the zoo! idk

Project Proposal: dwelling

Theme: dwelling- a place of residence, home, shelter.
A house can say a lot about culture, religion and the people who live there. In creating a dwelling im representing a part of my culture (guatemala).
I'm going to use red clay.
